Meet the Boat & Crew

The Alaska Quest yacht is a custom-made steel expedition trawler that offers small ship charters in Southeast Alaska. Our inside space is warm, spacious, and comforting, and our outside space offers great opportunities for the perfect photograph or relaxation. Our space allows us to travel with two skiffs, four kayaks, two paddleboards, fishing gear, shrimp and crab pots. If you are looking for a custom boat charter, we offer great exploration, wildlife viewing, glacier and fjord viewing, and, of course, whale watching.

Staterooms:

  • The Mid-Stateroom has a walk-around Queen bed and a private bathroom (toilet/sink). The bed can be made up with a divider offering two twins for those not wishing to share a queen bed. The shower is located across the hall.

  • The Forward Stateroom has a walk-around platform Queen bed (two steps) and a large bathroom with a shower.

  • The Double Bunkroom has two extra-long bunks, one with a porthole off the upper berth. The bathroom and shower are in the hall.

  • Guests also have the option of having a Queen-size sofa sleeper in the main salon.

Meals are prepared using fresh Alaskan seafood and products, many harvested while on board. Some recipes describing the delights that await you aboard the Alaska Quest are available on our Meals page.

We have games, cards, and an Alaskan-inspired library. Internet is available upon request.

Watch for whales on the outside bridge, relax in our generous salon, sit in the pilothouse galley, or relax in the comfort of your private room. Relax, Breathe, Adventure. Let us share our waterways, our crew’s favorite spots, and a world-class adventure in spectacular Alaska that only a few get to experience on our small ship custom yacht. It’s personalized; it’s about what you want to do, and it will be the experience of a lifetime!

Meet the Team

Captain

Eric Morrow has twenty-plus years of experience cruising SE Alaska. He brings a lifetime of boating experience, including recreational sailing with family, to recently delivering a vessel that transited the Panama Canal. Eric brings knowledge and respect for the environment and the region. He started his journey in 2004 as a deckhand and naturalist and worked his way to Captain. His recent work has been for a company that focuses on experiences that highlight Alaska and all her wildlife in a manner that respects the environment and the ecosystems. In 2011, Eric was selected to be a captain on a small passenger cruise line in SE Alaska. He has grown to know the small communities, the best wildlife locations, and the unique opportunities that weeklong cruising can provide. He is passionate about continuing Alaska Quest’s high standard of client-centered customer service and extraordinary adventures that will make your charter a trip of a lifetime. This crew includes his life partner, Sarah, his senior mate, Jonathan, and Lovie, the boat dog. They will ensure a magical SE Alaska holiday for you and your travel companions. Eric holds his USCG 500-ton STCW endorsement, first aid/CPR cards, and TWIC security clearance.

Crew

Sarah Moranville, Galley/Steward/Admiral, fell in love with the magic and beauty of SE Alaska on numerous expeditions over the years. She retired as a full-time musician in 2022 to work shore support for a small cruise line in Alaska. This new opportunity to showcase SE Alaska and provide the small vessel experience while working alongside her life partner, Eric, makes this a perfect fit for the Alaska Quest. Sarah is a competent deckhand and cook and loves to entertain. Sarah holds her first aid/CPR cards and TWIC security clearance.

Jonathan “ Nate” Northam began his career as a deckhand and worked his way to become a licensed captain and senior mate. The addition of a second Captain on the Alaska Quest expands the cruising and shore excursion opportunities. He brings the skills and enthusiasm for a safe and enjoyable cruise. Nate has worked with Captain Eric for ten years and is a trusted senior mate. His youth and enthusiasm will be an excellent asset to our cruising. Jonathan holds his USCG 200-ton STCW endorsement, first aid/CPR cards, and TWIC security clearance.

Crew Dog

Lovie our beloved Mini-Schnauzer will be on board. She's an excellent boat dog, hypo-allergenic and quite adorable. She adds charm and comfort to the charters.
